
Daniel is a commercial litigator with experience in complex multi-party international disputes often with a financial markets or regulatory element. His experience covers both High Court litigation and international arbitration. Daniel also advises on white-collar regulatory investigations
Daniel trained with Herbert Smith Freehills LLP. Prior to qualifying as a lawyer he was a manager in the M&A team at Lloyds Banking Group and an associate in Deloitte’s Private Equity Transaction Services group.
Daniel also sits as a magistrate in North London and on appeals at Blackfriars Crown Court.
EXPERIENCE
Commercial Litigation
- Acting for a Georgian family in connection with substantial claims valued in excess of US$1.5bn concerning a 10% interest in the Russian mining company Metalloinvest.
- Acting for a former partner of a failed international law firm in defence of a claim by a UK bank for specific performance and damages related to alleged equity contribution loans.
- Acting for a leading Swiss bank in defence of a multi‐million pound High Court claim brought by the administrators of a failed UK subsidiary of an Icelandic bank (also in administration).
- Acting for hedge funds and private equity houses in relation to enforcing rights under their bond holdings.
Arbitration
- Acting for an international energy group in connection with a substantial LCIA arbitration brought in relation to an alleged breach of contract for the sale of Russian oil tankers and related shipping licences.
- Acting for a Big Four accountancy firm in defence of a multi-billion dollar negligence claim filed in the Bahrain Chamber for Dispute Resolution (BCDR) arising out of the failure of two Arab banks.
Regulatory Investigations
- Acting for an international mining and mineral company in relation to ongoing regulatory investigations.
